Hudson Marketing Consultancy celebrates 2 years in business
Cheshire Marketing Consultant

This year, Hudson Marketing Consultancy celebrates 2 years in business. As business owners, we all have a story to tell and therefore to mark this special occasion, I wanted to share my story with you about how I came to be in business.

If someone had told me, just a few years ago, that I’d be running my own business (and set it up in two different countries), I would have laughed out loud. But now, that’s exactly what I do and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My name is Jacquie Hudson and I am the founder of Hudson Marketing Consultancy, a specialist professional services marketing consultancy based in Hartford, Cheshire. I help SMEs that don’t have the time, resources or expertise to market and grow their business for a fraction of the cost of hiring a full-time marketing person.

I started up in 2012, originally in Dublin, Ireland, and have quickly established Hudson Marketing Consultancy as the go-to place for professional services strategic marketing advice and outsourced marketing. In 2014, I was awarded the Chartered Marketer status by the Chartered Institution of Marketing (CIM) which for me is one of my greatest personal achievements. I have worked with many clients in the UK and Ireland and I’ve loved every minute. My clients are accountants, solicitors, building and land surveyors, building and civil engineering contractors and architects to name but a few.

My story

I had been working in corporate for more than 14 years and was at the peak of my career. Having moved to Dublin in 2004, I was appointed Head of Marketing for one of Ireland’s top 10 accountancy firms. It was demanding, not your typical 9 to 5, but I loved it. That was until I had to juggle my career with my family life. Not long after I had my second child, I made a decision to take a ‘career break’.  Looking back, the timing was not great. We were in the middle of a recession and my husband’s company was struggling. There’s nothing like tough times to give you clarity on what you want to do with your life.

I used my ‘career break’ wisely. I have always wanted to set up my own business and this was the right time to do just that. So off I went to evening classes to learn how to start a business whilst also studying for a professional diploma in digital marketing. Out of the blue I received a call from a guy I used to work with looking for a marketing consultant and would I be interested; you can imagine my response and the rest as they say is history.

Then in 2013 we made a life-changing decision – to move our family back to the UK. So, I had to start-up all over again and I have to say second time round is a lot easier! It’s been quite a journey so far, but I am enjoying every minute.

How did I end up here?

I have more than 16 year’s professional services marketing experience as a senior marketer for architectural practices, accountancy firms, land surveyors and professional bodies in the UK and Ireland. Whilst working for an accountancy firm, I became aware that many small businesses struggle with how to market their business and don’t have the time, resources or expertise to implement marketing activities. So, in 2012, I started up Hudson Marketing Consultancy.

My pieces of paper

I have a degree in Marketing from Staffordshire University, a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing and a Diploma in Project Management from the Institute of Commercial Management.

I am a Chartered Marketer and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and I am committed to continuous professional development.

Me and my family

I am married to Mark, a serial entrepreneur and golf-a-holic, and we have two wonderful children (a girl and a boy). Life is incredibly busy but we wouldn’t have it any other way. I’d love to say I have hobbies but I genuinely don’t have time! (I’m working on that). But I am passionate about spending time with family and friends and of course supporting my beloved football team, Manchester United.
